ABOUT DEPARTMENT OF MASS MEDIA AND FILM PRODUCTION
Commencing its journey in 2008 under the leadership of Ms. Vidhi Rajora, the Department of Film Production and Communication has continually evolved. It launched with the Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia and Mass Communication (BAMMC) program, an affiliation with the University of Mumbai, which marked its commitment to fostering creative communicators. The trajectory expanded with the introduction of the Bachelor of Arts in Film, Television, and New Media Production (BAFTNMP) in 2014, followed by corresponding postgraduate programs in 2018. Today, the department thrives with a comprehensive offering encompassing two undergraduate programs, two postgraduate programs, and an array of short-term certificate courses.
At the core of the department’s ethos is autonomy, reflected in its undergraduate programs that embrace the forefront of industry-oriented education. Designed to align seamlessly with the dynamic demands of the industry, these programs offer a meticulously curated blend of advanced, skill-focused courses. Students benefit from unfettered access to a cutting-edge studio boasting green screens, dubbing facilities, a Mac Lab, and state-of-the-art camera equipment, thereby fostering immersive learning experiences.
What sets the Department of Film Production and Communication apart is not just its dedicated full-time faculty but also the inclusion of over half a dozen industry experts who contribute as visiting faculties. This amalgamation of academic rigor and industry insights elevates the educational journey, bridging the gap between theory and practice. The department’s commitment to personalized education is demonstrated by its intentional student intake, which remains below the University’s recommended capacity. Currently, the department guides over 300 students as they prepare for careers in Journalism, Advertising, and the Film industry, fostering a diverse, passionate, and dynamic student body.
