ABOUT DEPARTMENT OF MASS MEDIA AND FILM PRODUCTION
Initiated in the year 2008 the Department of Multimedia and Mass Communication embarked on a journey that has since evolved into a hub of creative exploration and industry-ready education. The initial offering, the Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia and Mass Communication (BAMMC), marked the department’s commitment to providing a dynamic platform for students to delve into the realms of media and communication. This affiliation with the University of Mumbai laid the foundation for what would become a pioneering force in media education.

Subsequently, in 2014, the department expanded its offerings with the launch of the Bachelor of Arts in Film, Television, and New Media Production (BAFTNMP), recognizing the growing importance of visual storytelling and media production. This was further augmented in 2018 with the introduction of corresponding postgraduate programs, solidifying the department’s stance as a comprehensive source of education in the multimedia and mass communication domain.
Currently, the department oversees a diverse portfolio, spanning two undergraduate programs, two postgraduate programs, and a range of short-term certificate courses that cater to the ever-evolving demands of the industry. Notably, all undergraduate programs have achieved autonomy, a testament to the department’s commitment to staying at the forefront of educational innovation. This autonomy allows the department to offer a meticulously curated curriculum that aligns seamlessly with the skill sets sought by the media and communication industry.
Facilitating this educational journey is a state-of-the-art infrastructure that includes a well-equipped studio replete with a green screen and dubbing facilities, a cutting-edge Mac Lab, and a wide array of high-tech camera equipment. This immersive learning environment ensures that students receive hands-on training and exposure to the latest tools and technologies.
What truly sets the Department of Multimedia and Mass Communication apart is not only its dedicated full-time faculty but also the inclusion of over a dozen industry experts as visiting faculties. This symbiotic blend of academia and industry insight fosters an enriched learning experience, exposing students to real-world scenarios and challenges.
In a landscape where quality often surpasses quantity, the department takes pride in maintaining an intentionally lower student intake than the University’s recommendations. This deliberate approach allows for personalized attention, collaborative learning, and the cultivation of a vibrant community of learners.
As of today, the department’s student body exceeds 300, encompassing individuals who are passionately pursuing careers in Journalism, Advertising, Film, and beyond. This diverse and enthusiastic student cohort infuses the campus with a dynamic energy, reflecting the spirit of exploration and creativity that defines the field of multimedia and mass communication.
